A Legendary Event in Nikiti, Halkidiki

Each July, the tranquil blue waters of Halkidiki’s Toroneos Gulf transform into the stage for one of Greece’s most iconic swimming events: the International Swimming Crossing of the Toroneos Gulf. In 2025, the event celebrates its 55th edition, continuing a rich legacy that began in 1971.

What makes it extraordinary? It’s a 26-kilometer open-water race that starts from Kallithea in Kassandra and finishes on the sandy beach of Nikiti, right near Summer House.

When & Where

• Date: 26 July 2025 in and around Nikiti and Kallithea, Sithonia

• Time: Swimmers begin early in the morning; finish expected around midday

• Route: From Kallithea, on the Kassandra Peninsula, across to Nikiti, covering approximately 26 km

• Finish Line: Nikiti Beach, Sithonia – only 30 meters from our hotel

Cultural Week & Festivities

• The crossing is the culmination of a 3‑day festival with dance, music, theatre, and exhibitions organised by the “Sithon” Youth Cultural Society

• The race’s grand finale features olive‑wreathed winners, medals, diplomas, communal meals, live music, and local merriment
